Lion Higher Than Orion

2016-4-LionHigherThanOrionAfter ruling the evening skies during the winter, the constellation Orion will soon say goodbye for the season, when he disappears into the spring sunset. But friends of Orion can make a new friend with the constellation Leo the Lion, which is currently high in the evening sky of spring. You can’t miss Leo since the bright “star” Jupiter is currently in this part of the sky in 2016, underneath the Lion. The waxing Moon is moving through the evening sky week, and will pass Leo’s brightest star Regulus on Saturday, April 16, and will pass Jupiter the next night, Sunday, April 17.
