CLOSE CONJUNCTION/ OCCULTATION OF VENUS BY THE MOON!

2015-12-LunarConj-Venus

Before sunrise on Monday morning, December 7, there will be a VERY CLOSE conjunction of the “Old Moon” with the blazingly bright planet Venus in the constellation Virgo! The Moon and this bright planet will be sharing the morning sky with the planets Mars and Jupiter!

ALASKA AND NW CANADA
But on Monday morning, the waning crescent Moon will be closer yet as seen in Alaska and northwestern Canada, where observers will see an OCCULTATION of bright Venus by the Moon! This is when the Moon will pass in front of Venus and cover over the bright planet for a period of time! That does NOT happen every day! So circle that date on your calendar and plan to take a look!

Be sure to check several minutes before your local time of disappearance to see Venus impossibly close to the Moon!
