AMAZING ECLIPSE VIDEO

ECLIPSE is the latest episode of Salomon Freeski, an online documentary series of beautifully photographed Xtreme skiing videos, now in its 9th season. In this episode, our heroes venture to Svalbard, a frozen rock in the Arctic, to ski while observing the TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE of March 20, 2015.

The early part is mostly about skiing and the adventures along the way, including a polar bear encounter at 4:40. You see nice images of sundogs at 18:25, 18:55, and 26:55. The landscape of the snowy mountains is breathtaking, and even more so to think that anyone would actually ski on such crazy slopes. As a skier of 40 years myself, you would NOT catch me attempting such stunts!

PARENTAL ADVISORY: This video was made by a bunch of “salty” young guys, and reflects that level of humor. Parents be cautioned at 15:35, 16:10, and 22:30, which respectively show brief shots of an anatomical feature drawn in the snow, skinny dipping, and a demonstration of a home-made Arctic toilet.

The actual eclipse portion begins at around 27:15, and carries through to the end, and includes some amazing video. This is a really well-done depiction of what Americans can expect to see from coast-to-coast over the USA on Monday, August 21, 2017. These skiers were quite blasé about the eclipse beforehand, but were gushing enthusiastically during totality (profanity warning). Afterwards, their comments included:

“The eclipse really blew my mind.”

“That was pretty crazy, definitely something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

“It’s one of the most insane things you will ever see.”

“Just magical.”

“Like a science fiction movie, something completely alien.”

I hope you all will be inspired by this video and plan to travel to see the ALL-AMERICAN ECLIPSE in the Summer of ’17!!!
